In humification there is accumulation of a dark coloured amorphous substance called humus that is highly resistant to microbial action which decomposes at an extremely slow rate.It serves as a reservoir of nutrients .
Now this humus is degraded and the inorganic nutrients releases. This process is known as mineralisation.
