Difference between hydrogen and carbon dioxide gas.

Explanation:

Carbon dioxide:

  • CO₂ is also used in fire extinguishers.
  • The fizzy essence of some of the drinks you take when you get an upset stomach is due to carbon dioxide development.
  • Carbon dioxide is heavier than air, and can be poured to extinguish it from a bottle into a spark.
  • A way of detecting carbon dioxide is by putting a burning flame in the bottle. When the flame dies out then carbon dioxide gas is most likely present.

Hydrogen:

  • Hydrogen is also odorless and without colour.
  • Hydrogen gas is lighter than air than carbon dioxide, and was used widely in large airships in the early 1900s.
  • Hydrogen gas is highly explosive. Placing a burning match inside the container will identify it.
  • A loud "POP" is heard when a loud flame is being formed. This is known as the POP exam.
