In plain and simple terms, the relation between a hydrogen halide and its respective hydrohalic acid is similar to that between a pure substance and its aqueous solution. HCl, HBr and HI are completely ionised in water with high concentrations of hydronium ions and so their respective hydrohalic acids are strong acids.
