i-Ticket is like a normal ticket that is booked over the counter, except that the ticket is booked through the internet and a physical copy of the ticket is delivered to your address.

e-Ticket is a ticket that is booked through the internet and a soft copy of the ticket is delivered to your email id (as an email) and to your mobile (as an SMS) so that you need not carry the printed ticket with you. You can show the ticket details on your mobile or any handheld device and travel.

This is the major difference between i-ticket and e-ticket oof India's online train ticket reservation system.
