Image can be be a noun or verb. The noun image is singular, for example over 7,000 people have discovered the image of Jesus Christ in a taco. Imagery can indeed be thought of as plural of the word image but it can also mean an ever-changing variety of the single image. For example the imagery of vast fortune and fame lured Paco into buying many many more tacos than he needed hoping to find the image of Christ.
