A person who has immunocompromised have reduced ability to fight infections and other diseases. They more susceptible to infections. This may be caused by certain diseases or conditions, such as AIDS, diabetes, malnutrition, and certain genetic disorders. A weakened immune systems also includes those with cancer and transplant patients who are taking certain immunosuppressive drugs.

Immunodeficiency disorders make it easier for the patient to catch viruses and bacterial infections. Immunodeficiency disorders result in a full or partial impairment of the immune system. Immunodeficiency disorders are either congenital or acquired. A congenital, or primary, disorder is one you were born with. In other words, some people are born with intrinsic defects in their immune system, this disorder is immunodeficiency, also known as primary immunodeficiency.
