Infectious Diseases :

• These types of diseases transmitted from one infected person to other healthy person .

• These types of diseases caused by Pathogens like Viruses , bacteria etc.

• These disease are brought by external factors .

• These types of  disease also known as Communicable diseases .

• Community hygiene can reduce the incidence of infectious disease .

• Example – Chicken pox , small pox , AIDS , Common Cold etc  

Non – Infectious Diseases :

• These types of diseases not transmitted from one infected person to other healthy  person.

• These types in No role of pathogens .

• These disease may be brought by extrinsic factors .

• These types of disease also known as Non – Communicable diseases .

• Community hygiene is have no effect in reducing the incidence of non – infectious disease .

• Example – Cancer, Dengue etc

  • These diseases are caused by attacks of pathogens. A pathogen is a. organism which is responsible for transmission of a disease .It can be bacteria, virus,fungi and protozoa.
  • The diseases are brought by external or extrinsic factors.
  • These diseases can pass from a diseased or infected person to a healthy person.
  • These diseases are of two types : Contagious (direct transmission) and Non- Contagious (non direct transmission).Hence, Transmission of infection of disease can be through air,water,soil or it also can be through direct contact.
  • These diseases can be prevent through Community hygiene.
  • Examples :- Tuberculosis (T.B.), Cold, Cholera, Pneumonia,Malaria.

  • These diseases are caused by factors other than living organisms.For example :- imbalance in hormonal system, unbalanced diet, extra fats in body.
  • These diseases are mostly brought by internal or intrinsic factors.
  • These diseases cannot pass from one person to another person.
  • There is no transmission or it can be said that transmission is absent.But some diseases like hereditary diseases are transmitted from parents to their offsprings.
  • No role of community hygiene.
  • Examples :- Diabetes, Hypertension,Goitre.
