Informal communication is the type of cummunication a person uses to speak to someone they know, for example Family, friends, colleagues, etc.
Formal communication however, is the type of communication one uses when speaking to someone of higher authority than you, like your boss, or in a more exaggerated tone, a king.
Informal communication is used in normal, casual conversations.
Formal communication is used as an effective strategy to hook your audience in, let's suppose, a conversation about sponsoring your product. It is an effective business strategy, and is a means of communication used during important conversations, meetings, etc.
