Difference between insulator metal and semiconductor on the basis of band theory

In insulator there is a large gap between conduction band and valence band therefore electron can't jump from valence band to conduction band.

But in semiconductor there is a small gap between conduction band and valence band. If we heat up the semiconductor electrons are able to reach from valence band to conduction band.
