Mixed cropping refers to the practice of growing two or more crops together on the same piece of land in one crop season. One of the most important advantages of mixed cropping is that even under adverse conditions all the crops do not get destroyed.

Intercropping is a multiple cropping practice involving growing two or more crops in proximity. The most common goal of intercropping is to produce a greater yield on a given piece of land by making use of resources that would otherwise not be utilized by a single crop.

Crop rotation is practice of growing different crops in succession on a piece of land. The basic aim of crop rotation is to maintain the soil fertility.
