internal respiration means taking the oxygen in by lungs.
external respiration means leaving out the carbon dioxide out of the nose.

External respiration also involves gas exchange, the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide between body cells and blood cells. Internal respiration is the respiration that occurs within a cell.
