Hello Dear !
______________________________________________________________
Ions are negatively charged or positively charged atoms or particles
But A dipole is a set of two poles positive and negative
Take an example in H2O
when bond formation takes place O got partial negative charge and
H got partial positive charge their moment is called dipole moment

ION is formed when neutral atom looses or gains electron.
eg: Na+ ,k+ etc
DIOPLE means equal and opposite charges
separated by small distance
A neutral atom may be a dipole if its elctrons
and are displaced in such a way that negative
charges go to one side of atom and positive
charges go to other side of atom
The MAIN difference is that neutral atom can
never be the ion but neutral atom can be a
dipole
eg helium at high temperature
