the most common difference b/w covalent and ionic bond is that covalent bond is formed by sharing of electron and ionic bond is formed by gaining or loosing of electron

ionic bond:-
•bonds which are created when two ions combined to form a compound is called ionic bond.
•usually they are weak bond as compared to that of the covalent bond.
•here bonds are created due to the attraction between two opposite charges.
covalent bond:-
• bond which is formed when there is a mutual sharing of electrons between two or more atoms the bond so formed is calling covalent bond.
•they are strong bond
•here bonds is created by the overlapping of atomic orbital.
