difference between kharif crops and Rabi crop

kharif crops : Crops , which are grown in rainy season , known as kharif crops.
Example : soyabean , cotton , Maize , Green Gram and Black Gram etc.


Rabi Crops : Crops which are grown in winter season , known as Rabi Crops.

Example : wheat , Gram , Peas , Mustard etc.

  • There are two main cropping patterns in our country kharif crops and Rabi crops.

KHARIF CROPS :

 1.Sowing season of kharif crops start at the beginning of Southwest monsoon ,i.e June and July because more water is needed by these crops.

2. Kharif crops are harvested at the end of monsoon season during September and October.

E.g - kharif crops includes paddy (rice), maize, soyabean, groundnut, pulses and cotton.

RABI CROPS :

1.Sowing season of Rabi crops starts at the beginning of winter,i.e October to December.

2. Rabi crops are harvested in the months of March and April.

E.g - Rabi crops include wheat, gram, Pea mustard, linseed and barley.
