1. Carbohydrates are organic compounds made up of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen. Lipids are a complex organic molecule with carbon, hydrogen, oxygen and also nitrogen and Sulphur with other small constituents.2. Carbohydrates can be divided into monosaccharide, disaccharides, oligosaccharides, and polysaccharides. Lipids include fats, fatty acids, phospholipids, fat-soluble vitamins, oils, waxes, and sterols, etc. 3.Except for polysaccharides, carbohydrates are highly soluble in water thus easier to transport in blood while lipids are insoluble and instead clump together to prevent hydrocarbon region from interacting with water.4. Lipids can store more energy than carbohydrates.5. Monomers of carbohydrates are monosaccharides and the monomers of lipids are fatty acids and glycerol.6. Polymers of carbohydrates are polysaccharides and polymers of lipids are triglycerides.7.Carbohydrates are stored as glycogen in the liver cells whereas lipids stored as fat in adipose cells.8. Lipids contain two times more energy per gram than carbohydrates.
