The lithosphere is the unbreakable, external crust of a terrestrial-type planetoid or natural satellite, that is determined by its rigid composition characteristics. On Earth, it is formed of the crust and the division of the upper mantle that performs elastically on time ranges of thousands of years or higher.

The hydrosphere is the consolidated mass of water detected on, beneath, and above the surface of a planet, minor planet or natural satellite. Although the Earth's hydrosphere has been about for longer than 4 billion years, it recapitulates to vary in size from time to time.
