Answer:

Macrandrous is (botany) having antheridia formed on normal-sized male vegetative filaments while nannandrous is having nannandria.

Explanation:

Oedogonium Thallus Structure

The algal body, also known as the thallus is usually green in colour and consists of unbranched, multicellular and end-to-end filaments. The filament cells are either attached to the base with a mounting clip or free floating.

Oedogonium species can be found in two forms which are as follows:

  • Macrandrous species: Male and female reproductive organs (antheridia and oogonia, respectively) are arranged as filaments and are of normal size. The male and female reproductive organs of large monoecious species are located on the same filament. The male and female genitalia of large dioecious species are produced as separate filaments.
  • Nannandrous species: In this type, the antheridia and oogonia are morphologically different. This type is always alone. The antheridia are very small compared to the oogonium and are known as mosses. Small male filaments join female filaments near the oogonium.
