Difference between major and minor poisson's ratio

Nonetheless, there's a consensus here on the most probable meaning. In composites, which often are orthotropic or tranversely isotropic materials, the poisson ratio depends on the direction of measurement.  In transversely isotropic materials specifically, there are two poisson ratio values, and our guess is that the higher one is the major value, and the lesser one is the minor value.  Does this sound plausible to you?
