There is a basic difference, because mass is the actual amount of material containedin a body and is measured in kg, gm, etc. Whereas weight is the force exerted by the gravity on that object mg. Note that mass isindependent of everything but weight isdifferent on the earth, moon, etc

Mass of a body is the content present inside the body. but weight is the gravitational force acting on a body. mass can be zero but weight cannot be 0. mass is measured in kg but weight in N.
