mass is the amount of matter present in a body .mass is the fundamental quantity
weight is the force of gravity acting on a body . it is a derived quantity

Si unit of mass is kg & for weight newton.Mass remains costant everywhere & it cannot be zero and the value of weight changes place to place & it can be zero w= m×g.Mass has only magnitude so it is scalar quantity but weight has both magnitude & direction so it is vector quantity
