Mechanical waves are the waves that travels through a medium  from one location to another. To create mechanical wave initial energy is required.Sound waves ,Water waves and many more are  the example of mechanical waves.

On the other hand non mechanically waves do not required any medium for transfer of their energy.They can travel through the vacuum. Electromagnetic and Light waves are some examples of non- mechanical waves.
