The difference between median and mode are as follows:

  • Median is referred to as the number that lies in the middle when the numerical table is organised in ascending order.

Mode is referred to as the number that repeats the maximum times in the numerical table.

• For example for median in a numerical table such as:

2,4,1,5,3,6,8,7,7,8,9,9,9,1,2. We first align the numbers in ascending order i.e 1,1,2,2,3,4,5,6,7,7,8,8,9,9,9. The median for the following table will be 6

For example for mode in a numerical table such as:2,4,1,5,3,6,8,7,7,8,9,9,9,1,2. The number that occurs the most number of times is 9. 9 repeats itself 3 times.
