Medieval time of india is counted from approximately 900 AD till then India consisted of numerous small and large kingdoms, coexisting and fighting with each other.

India had advantage in trade and technology but they were mostly interested in Indian peninsular mainland.

Europe and the map of europe was completely different from what it is today.
in Europe there was race for land not as much trading.

Then Islam started spreading and Europe became the land of wars and crusade. In this time church also took efforts to influence kings of Spain and Portugal to spread Christianity
