Metals:

Metals are solid in nature at room temperature except mercury.

They form basic oxides.

For example, gold,silver, copper etc..,

Non-metals:

Non metals may be in solid, liquid or gaseous state.

They form oxides which are acidic in nature.

For example,oxygen,nitrogen, calcium etc..,
