1-They are elements with the valence electrons 1,2,3.
2-They loses electrons to be stable.
3-They are generally solid at room temperature except for few .
4-They have high melting and boiling point.

Non metals
1-The have valence electrons 4,5,6,7.
2-They gain electron to be stable like nearest noble gas.
3-They are liquid or molten at room temperature except for few like graphite etc.
4-They have low melting and boiling point.
