Difference between Metals and Non - metals:-

Metals:

  • They do not brittle or break.
  • They are malleable.
  • They have ductility.
  • They have a silvery or golden colour.
  • They are sonorous.
  • They have a high melting point.
  • They are good conductors of heat and electricity.

Non - metals:

  • They break easily.
  • They are not malleable.
  • They are not ductile.
  • They show many colours.
  • They are not sonorous.
  • They have a low melting point.
  • They are not good conductors of heat as well as electricity.

*However, there are many exceptions.

Answer:

Metals

Metals ◍ Metals are malleable and ductile.

◍Metals are good conductors of heat and electricity.

◍Metals are lustrous and can be polished.

◍Metals are solids at room temperature.Except for mercury which is a liquid metal.

◍Metals are strong and tough.

Non-Metals.

Non-Metals.◍.Non- metals are brittle (break easily). They are neither malleable nor ductile.

. ◍Non-metals are bad conductors of heat and electricity. Except for graphite which is a good conduction of electricity.

◍Non-metals are non-lustrous (dull) and cannot be polished. Except for iodine.

◍Non-metals may be solid, liquid or gases at the room temperature..

◍ Non-metals are not strong or tough.
