Both of them are excellent institutions and undoubtedly a place for knowledge. The one thing that's makes the difference. In MIT they don’t care about placements. But where as in INDIA we want to get placed in some top companies and earn loads of money. Very few people are interested in startups. we don't want to take any kind of risks and play it safe. WHEN STUDENT FROM A PRESTIGIOUS IIT GETS 1CR PACKAGE IT MAKES THE HEADLINES OF THE NEWSPAPERS AND IF A STUDENT FROM IIT HAS A SUCCESSFUL STARTUP THE SAME NEWSPAPERS DON'T CARE.

That's the reason we have very few Indian startups that are really successful like OLA , FLIPKART(THIS WAS STARTED BY IIT DELHI ALUMNUS).we don't want to risk it we want to play it safe so hell with the startups. hence we want to get placed in a company with a huge package.

Who is giving these people 1 crore packages? companies like GOOGLE and FACEBOOK. WE INDIANS ARE LEARNING HOW TO GET JOBS NOT HOW TO CREATE JOBS. it is not the mistake of the IIT’S its the mistake of the Education system we have and the thinking of the society.

This is what is the major difference between them.

Another difference is, There is only one MIT but there are 23 IIT’S you might think what difference that makes, but it does, The funding is being divided between 23 IIT’S where as there is only one MIT.
