gametes are formed from specialised diploid cells. during the cell division when the no. of chromoses decreases i.e. becomes half and results in formation of haploid daughter cells. this division. is called as meiosis.

when the equational division occurs I.e. the no. of choromoses in the parent and the daughter cells is same . this type of division is known as mitosis division..
