In mitosis cell division, there is no exact copy of DNA. While in meiosis, exact copy of DNA happens.
There is no chance of variations in mitosis division. But in meiosis, there is more chance of variations.
Meiosis help in speciation while mitosis do not.

The daughter cell is exactly same as parent cell.
Mitosis have one round of prophase, meta phase , anaphase and telophase
Meiosis
The process in which the chromosome number becomes half in the cell is known as meiosis
The daughter cell is slightly different from parent cell.
Meiosis have two rounds of prophase, meta phase , anaphase and telophase .
