difference between modem,router,switches

Modem :

A device that converts analogue signals to digital signals or digital signals to analogue signals. This is because computer can only understand digital signals and only analogue signals can travel in form of radiations. It ensure two way communication.

Router :

A router connects 2 complete networks and access a network to the internet so that the two devices can share their internet connection.

Switch :

A switch is a connection point from where the information can be transmitted from one computer or a device to another it is more safe as compared to have as it receives the message and knows which computer it is to be sent and send it only to the specific computer which is not done in a hub.

  3. Modems
  4. Hub/Switch
  5. Router

  • A network is a system of interconnected devices in which communication and sharing is possible. Computer networks are the networks formed by computers when they rae interconnected.
