ELEMENT

An element is a substance consisting of atoms which all have the same number of protons - i.e. the same atomic number.Elements are chemically the simplest substances and hence cannot be broken down using chemical   methods. Elements can only be changed into other elements using nuclear methods.

MOLECULES

Molecules are the combination of one or more atoms into a specific substance. Perhaps the best-known combinations are water (H2O), carbon dioxide (CO2) and oxygen (O2, more accurately dioxygen). The chemical formula of a molecule (such as H2O) shows the specific atoms in the substance as well as how many of each element is found. In the case of water (H2O) there are two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom in every molecule of water. If the molecule were to lose one of these atoms, the compound would cease to be water.

Hey dear!

Q- Differentiate between molecule and element.

A-
The difference between a molecule and an element is:-

 Molecule

A molecule is the smallest part of an element or a compound that can exist     by itself.
It may contain similar or dissimilar atoms.

→The molecule of an element contains one or more atoms of the same kind. They are known as homo molecules.

→The molecule of a compound contains two or more atoms of different kinds. They are known as hetero molecules.
Δ Two atoms of hydrogen combine with one atom of oxygen to form                    the compound water.

Δ Similarly, one atom of sodium combines with one atom of chlorine to                form a molecule of common salt (sodium chloride).

Δ One atom of carbon combines with two atoms of oxygen to form one                molecule of carbon dioxide.

ELEMENT

An element is a pure basic substance that cannot be split into simpler            substances by chemical methods. All the matter in the universe is made        up of elements.

There are 118 elements known till date, out of which only 94 are found in        nature. The rest have been made by scientists in laboratories.

Hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen, sodium, carbon, magnesium, aluminium,            phosphorus, sulphur, zinc, silver, gold, mercury, calcium, iron, copper,            lead and chlorine are some of the commonly known elements.

Every element is made up of many small particles. If you try to break              down these particles further, it will lose the properties of the element.

Each element is made up of only one kind of atom. Generally, all atoms of     an element are identical although there are some exceptions.

Hope this helps you... : )
