seeds which are having only one covering of outer wall/layer are known as monocots..
dicot:
seeds which are having two covering of outer wall/layer are known as dicots..

Monocots have only one cotyledon whereas dicot has two cotyledons
Monocots are tend to have fibrous root system whereas dicots most commonly have tap root system
Monocot flower usually form three petals while the dicots flower usually form four to five petals
