Multiplexer is a electronic device which only selects a single input out of the many inputs signal and then this selected signal is sent in the form of single line. A multiplexer is also known as " data selector" or "mux" which can be use in order to enforce the "Boolean function",
While one the other hand a "de-multiplexer" just used the one input signal in order to generate many , so we can say that it has only one inputs and it's outputs are many. it is also sometimes known as "demux".
