Difference Between music of older generation and present generation

In old times, majority of the songs were sad, unhappy with life, unhappy with society, love losers etc. Because most of the movies were about love. If there were ten songs in the movie, four songs were love songs and six songs were sad  like love losers songs. People liked those songs because there were many love losers at that time. it was like that those songs were telling their story. In old times, words of the songs were very important than music. Music was simple but the words were strong and meaningful.

Now the time and music both changed. New music is about fun, energetic, happy with life & society, no more love losers songs etc. New music gives happiness, to enjoy, to dance. The words are not strong & meaningful but the music is loud.

It may be that new generations are not love losers, they want to enjoy the music, they want to dance with music, they want to fun with music, they don,t want to understand the words of the song. They don,t want to sit in a room to listen the music and become sad.

I am just telling the difference between old music and new music. It may the reason that in old times, people were simple and poor. Now people are rich and they want to do fun with the music whether it is party, family get together etc.

hope it helps

Hi my dear friend,

Starting with the 60s and moving forward, music has evolved in multiple directions. Rock music produced heavier and more intense offshoots such as metal and punk. These in turn produced their own offshoots, some short lived such as grunge, some lasting longer. Folk incorporated electric instruments leading to folk rock. Early experiments with electronic instruments led to disco and disco led to modern dance music which then branched out into multiple styles with different influences. Electronic music also produced a seemingly ever-expanding array of music not relying on a four-to-the-floor dance beat, taking influence from many places and containing a substantial amount of experimentation with new concepts of what music could be.

At the same time straight up rock has never died, even if it no longer has quite as much mainstream attention as it once did. Nor has jazz. Disco is dead but lives on in its descendants. Punk continues to lurk around the fringes - it was never a style destined for any kind of long-term mainstream attention. Pop music, it should go without saying, is massively popular.

What you’ll notice missing from this response is a comment on differences in quality. That’s because anyone who thinks music of today is of lower quality is exposing their own ignorance and/or narrow-mindedness. They’re not aware of all the great music being made so they decide that their narrow view which is informed by an extremely limited subset of current music is representative. They also often decide that if they don’t like something it must be bad. This is common and not new to the generations that grew up in the 60s or any later decade. The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, these were all untalented hacks making an awful racket to many people from earlier generations. Perceived differences in quality are purely subjective.

Creativity in music is alive and well.
