National Party have influence all over the country or in several states. Whereas a regional party is limited to a state or region.

National Party takes interest in international as well as national issues; state parties are interested in promoting regional/state interest only.

National parties also have to harmonise the national as well as state interests; whereas state parties usually stand for greater autonomy of state.
