Salts come in three different forms: basic salts, neutral salts and acid salts. When a strong base reacts with a strong acid, a neutral salt is formed. When a strong base reacts with a weak acid, a basic salt is formed.

Explanation:

A salt resulting from the neutralization of an acid by a base and having no acidic or basic character, especially when dissolved in water.

The salts that are formed as a result of reaction between weak acid and strong base are known as basic salts.

For example, Na 2CO3(sodium carbonate) is a basic salt which is produced as a result of reaction between NaOH (strong base) and H 2CO 3 ( weak acid).
