Nitrification :Conversion of free nitrogen present in atomsphere into compound of nitrogen i.e. nitrite and then nitrite to nitrites is called nitrification . Denitrification:Conversion of nitrates into free nitrogen is called denitrification.

nitrification is the process of fixing the nitrogen by bacteria and dinitrification is the process of converting of fixed nitrogen into atmospheric nitrogen.
