Normal reaction forces are the boon of Newton's third law namely every action has an equal and opposite reaction. so if I am putting a certain force on some wooden block. the wooden block will apply the same force back at me.
the most fundamental property of trust force is that It arise due to flowing mass. there should be a flow of matter.i. e., there should be a velocity involved.
this is not required for normal reactions. a weight kept on a table experiences a normal reaction by the table( which is what keeps it stationery, by the way.
