Ans: Both fission and fusion are nuclear reactions that produce energy, but the applications are not the same. Fission is the splitting of a heavy, unstable nucleus into two lighter nuclei, and fusion is the process where two light nuclei combine together releasing vast amounts of energy.

Hope it helps...!!

·Nuclear fission implies reaction in which a heavy nucleus is broken into smaller nuclei, by releasing neutrons and energy. Nuclear fusion refers to a process in which two or more lighter atoms combine to create a heavy nucleus. ... Huge amount of energy is required to force nuclei to fuse.
