Open circuit is a which has no complete path to pass the current through. The measure of the current on the open circuit is zero but the voltage drop is equivalent to the source voltage.
Fault close current is the maximum short circuit fault current a switch/device can close into and remain closed.

Explanation:
- In open circuit current does not flow but in closed circuit the current flows .
- in open circuit potential difference is not established but in closed circuit there is difference in potential .
- closed circuit is represented by (.) sign but open circuit is represented by ( )sign.
