Before starting clearing your doubt let's first try to understand some important terms related to it.

Fertilization

It is the procedure through which organisms breeds and produces their Progenies. Technically this process is too simple but if we talk about it at the cellular level then it will seems to be quite complicated.

In this technique two gametes are produced one is of female and other is of male. When both of the gametes become mature enough to be fertilized, both are fused together or their genetic material like DNA or RNA mixed up.

As the result of this fusion a zygote (The first cell formed after the fertilization) is formed.

Types of Fertilization

Basically Fertilization is categorised into two major classes :-

1. Internal Fertilization - When zygote is form inside the mother womb then the fusion is referred as internal fertilization.

2. External Fertilization - When zygote is form outside the mother womb then the fusion is said to be External fertilization.

Now Let's back to the question -

Oviparous Animals

Animals which lays eggs and the nourishment of the embryo is performed outside the female is said to be Oviparous Animals.

In This Embryo is developed outside the female but zygote is produced inside the mother womb.

The chances of survival is less , hence population of such beings is quite less as compare to the other modes of fusion.

Example include Snakes(not all), Birds, Fishes etc.

Viviparous Animals

Animals which do not lays eggs but produces baby and the nourishment of the embryo is performed inside the female is said to be Oviparous Animals.

In This Embryo is developed inside the female but zygote is produced either inside the mother womb or sometimes outside also.

The chances of survival is more , hence population of such beings is quite more as compare to the other modes of fusion like internal fusion.

Example include Homo sapiens, Dogs, other mammals (like monkey) etc.
