As the name suggests permanent magnet magnetic field is permanent and electromagnets magnetic field depends upon the flow of the electrical current. The electromagnet constitutes a coil made of wire which acts as a magnet when current is passed through it. Usually a ferromagnetic material like steel is wrapped by an electromagnet to enhance its magnetic field.

Permanent magnet

1) Magnetic properties are permanent.

2) Poles cannot be reversed.

3) Strength of the magnetic field cannot be changed.

4) It does not need an electric current to act as a magnet.

Temporary magnet(Electromagnet)

1) Magnetic properties are temporary and stays as long as the current flows through it.

2) Poles can be reversed by changing the direction of the current.

3) Strength of the magnetic field can be changed by varying the current.

4) It needs an electric current to work as a magnet.

Hope it helps you my dear friend ....
