Difference between petals and petaloids sepals

Petals are generally arranged in a single whorl but there may be a double whorl too. Petals are collectively called corolla .
Sepals are usually 5 in no. and there may be Less or more than that.They protect the young flower bud and perform photosynthesis when green. They are collectively called calyx.
