When you say "phone" but you explicitly don't mean iphone, it can mean many things. For example, it can mean a landline, ring phone, pay phone, or a smartphone. For smartphones, it could mean an android, made by samsung or google or huawei or LG, but they  all run android by google. Or it could mean a windows phone, which NO ONE uses anymore because they didn't have enough apps. But iPhones are made by Apple, an american company, and run Apples own iOS operating system.
