phospholipids are major membrane lipids. it has glycerol as a backbone.
phosphate group is present while on the other hand sphingolipids is the second mojor membrane lipids. it has ceramide backbone.it may or may not present phosphate group

Difference between phospholipids and sphingolipids is as follows:
Phospholipids
1. Phospholipids contain glycerol as the backbone.
2. They are the major components of the cell membrane in the cell.
3. They do not contain carbohydrate.
4. They contain phosphate group.
Sphingolipids
1. Sphingolipids contain sphingosine as the backbone.
2. They are present on the cell, membrane but not as much as the phospholipids.
3. They co-exist with the carbohydrate contents of the cell membrane in the cell.
4. They do not contain phosphate group.
