Photosynthesis is a process where green plants synthesise food using raw materials such as water,Carbon in the presence of sunlight and Chlorophyll. Since autotrophic plants are able to produce food, they are also known as Producers. Photosynthetic organisms convert only 2% of the Solar energy into Chemical energy.
This Chemical energy is stored in the form of Biomolecules, which are harvested by the organisms that eat forming food chain.
The basic equation of Photosynthesis is deceptively simple. Water and Carbon Dioxide combined to form Carbohydrates and molecular oxygen.
Oxygen is the colourless and odourless gas which is found in the environment and released by the process of Phototsynthesis. Its atomic mass is 16 and Atomic number is 8.
