Difference between plant cell and animal cell:-

Plant Cells:-

  • Plant cells contain cell wall for their extra protection along with plasma lemma.
  • They are rigid.
  • They have a big vacuole which takes 50-90% of the cell volume.
  • They have chromoplasts and leucoplasts, i.e. They have plastids.

(Note: Chloroplasts which contain chlorophyll fall in the category of chromoplasts.)

  • Most of the plant cells are dead.

Animal Cells:-

  • They don't have any cell wall; they have only plasma lemma for their protection.
  • They are flexible.
  • They either have many small vacuoles or have no vacuole.
  • They don't have plastids.
  • Most of the cells are alive.
