Display advertisement is done for telling people about something for sale purposes i.e. we highlight only the good qualities of the thing and the sole purpose is to attract people to buy it. Meanwhile a poster is something that simply tells us about the thing or concept or idea - whatever it is. Both good and bad aspects of it are presented in the poster and it is usually for spreading
