Executive order is an order issued by the executive government in power and signed by the Governor/President invoking any power delegated to it in any law or any other statute ( like rules framed under a law ) whereas an ordinance is a law-equivalent issued by the Government and signed by the Governor / President.

Difference between ordinance and presidential order are described as follows:-

  • Ordinance is the authorized order in form of law that is enacted through local government whereas presidential order is executive order that is ordered by President of nation.
  • President can pass an ordinance in absence of houses of parliament  in the session but presidential order cannot be taken by parliament house members if President is not present.
