Data which are collected for the first time , directly from the field by the investigator is called primary data . They are original in nature ..The data is also called as first hand data . The data are the raw materials of the enquiry. For eg:- ,if an individual or an office collects the data to study a particular problem directly from the field, it will be a primary data.

Secondary data is the data which has been already collected and analyzed by enumerators. Secondary data is also called second hand data.
